“Think Green 2” Builds Steam to Address Real Estate
Sustainability at Annual Conference in Amman
Amman March 2009. Think Green 2 in Real Estate Development is a
2-day Conference that builds on the success and outcomes of the
inaugural event held last April. Dedicated to promoting
environmentally-responsible design and construction methods and
solutions that foster sustainable economic development in
Jordan, the Conference will be addressed by highly-regarded
experts from around the world. The Conference will specifically
address issues related to Green Building principles and
practices; facilitate technology transfer of
environmentally-friendly technologies; and foster effective
communication and collaboration between major stakeholders
including Government, private sector and academia. Organised by
Events UnLimited, the Conference will be held on 10 and 11 March
at Le Meridien Hotel in Amman.
“Buildings and the infrastructure that supports them are the
fabric of our modern landscape”, said Samar Shawareb Ashqar
managing director of Events UnLimited. “They influence our daily
lives, whether at work, home or during our leisure time.
Worldwide, buildings account for 30% to 40% of energy use, 40%
to 50% of raw materials used, 25% of wood harvest, 17% of fresh
water consumption and nearly 40% of CO2 emissions. This has
serious implications on the sustainability of the environment
that we live in”, added Ashqar.
The 1st Think Green in Real Estate Development Conference
provided industry professionals with valuable information on
green building principles and techniques and presented several
case studies by expert speakers. The Conference encouraged
designers and developers to integrate green building solutions
into their projects; demonstrated that green buildings make good
business sense; and introduced eco-friendly technologies,
processes and approaches that could be applied in Jordan.
Think Green 2 is aimed at senior decision makers and
professionals from across the region working in the following
areas: Architects, Designers, Consultants, Urban Planner,
Specifiers, Planners, Developers, Contractors, Local
Authorities, Real Estate Professionals, Environmentalists,
Building Material Manufactures and Suppliers, Financial Sector
and Insurance Firms, Utilities, Universities and Technical
